Independence Day

For five of the past six years that my wife and I have lived in the Washington D.C. area, we have not attended the much-touted Fourth of July celebrations in the city because we were always out of town on vacation. This year, however, with the arrival of the newest addition to our family only a few days away, we decided to stay in town and see what all the fuss is about. Not wanting to get caught in the crush of humanity that inevitably accompanies any major event on the National Mall, we managed to secure prime rooftop seats for the big fireworks show. Being at eye level with the explosions was quite literally a blast! Happy Independence Day!
