Uruguay’s capital city is home to approximately 1.3 million residents, more than half of the country’s total population. Located between Brazil and Argentina along a major Atlantic Ocean shipping route, Montevideo is Uruguay’s primary port. The city’s strategically-important location has made it a major cultural center, and over the centuries, a coveted jewel in the crown of several empires that fought to gain control of the city. Montevideo’s architecture reflects this colonial heritage and is also influenced by the art deco and modernism movements of the past century. The following shots, many from historic Ciudad Vieja, are a small sampling of the sights one might encounter during a stroll along Montervideo’s beautiful streets. Wow, that shot of Iglesia Sagrado Corazon gave me chills! Love the stormy sky and the colors…reminds me of a light cyanotype wash in film. Did you use a filter in shooting it or afterwards in PhotoShop? Can’t wait to see your actual film series!
Thanks Carissa. I used Photoshop to tone down saturation, bump up contrast and adjust structure and sharpness in that shot until I got the mood I was looking for.
